《上海潮》是在讲日本在近几年有一股疯迷上海热潮，很多人放弃了在日本有着优厚的薪资工作而到上海去闯。但是因为民情风气和观念的不同也照成了很多误解，女主角木村多江就是饰演从日本到上海打拼的日本新女性。何润东则是饰演一位曾经在日本留学，然后再回上海创业的商人，二人因為工作的误解而相识，进而二人也因为工作的相持而相恋。
这位来自智利的导演这几年曾执导《神父俱乐部》以及《智利说不》，这次的题材同样选择了其所擅长的领域，可以期待一下。本片围绕智利当代著名诗人巴勃罗·聂鲁达。由于其在上世纪五十年代加入智利共产党，遭受了政府的迫害与通缉，最终躲入地下离开智利。
