洼田正孝接拍WOWOW日剧《狱之棘》饰演狱警，剧集根据作家大门刚明的小说改编，洼田正孝在剧中饰演新人狱警，与腐败的狱警以及服刑者对峙，反应监狱的黑暗面。 洼田正孝在剧中饰演主人公武岛良太，他和父亲一样成为狱警，在北关东监狱，他发现暴力和赌博等都被默许，腐败的狱警们早已远离正义，直到某一天，法务省出身的久井担任看守长，下令武岛扫除一切腐败。剧集由《珠峰：众神的山岭》导演平山秀幸执导。 洼田正孝说：“武岛是第一次到监狱，我也是第一次接触那样的氛围，在拍戏时体会到很多，感受到人的丑恶与温情，这部作品也告诉我们，不管做好事还是做坏事，最终还会回报到自己身上。” 平山秀幸导演称赞洼田正孝演技出色，运动神经也很好，绝对是实力派演员，把角色演绎得很好。 片中看守长久井由小泽征悦饰演，副看守长岩本康隆由池田成志饰演，犯人中暴力团组长神宫是清由泉谷茂饰演，武岛的前辈秋村繁晴由萩原圣人饰演。
