本套剧集最初创意来自于恐怖片导演米克•加利斯（Mick Garris），2002年他和一众业内同好在加州共餐。席间他们相谈甚欢，惺惺相惜。在此之后，加利斯召集席间的10位导演以及其他恐怖流的高手相约共同打造一套恐怖片剧集。2005年，加利斯身兼制作人和导演两个职务，打造出每集1小时的“恐怖大师”系列（总共两季26集），唐•卡斯卡尔利、斯图尔特•戈登、三池崇史、约翰•麦克诺顿、鹤田法男等名声显赫的导演相继参与其中，联合为恐怖片爱好者奉上惊险刺激的恐怖盛宴。
作为唯一有女友的肖旭，散发自己呆萌温暖的魅力，面对女友的礼物危机，展现了强烈的“直男求生欲”。由王城祖饰演的米凡，是一个十足的“结婚狂”，在亲戚朋友的帮助下“相亲无数”，虽然身为技术宅，但也没放弃自己当作家的“小目标”，想写出《霸道总裁弄疼我》这种“爆款小说”。他和女朋友的斗嘴也吸引大量笑点，米凡问女友分手的理由，一句“你晚上不行！”，隐晦又让人发笑。由张学恒饰演的“摄影师”秦乐，承包了剧中的荷尔蒙；张凌烽饰演的“海龟”秦乐，上来就表演了“黑色诱惑”。
少女名叫秋庭里香（高桥美佳子 配音），患有先天性心脏瓣膜不全症她是医院里的“常驻人口”。对于外面的陌生世界，里香充满了好奇，而裕一的到来无疑为她打开了一扇通往新世界的大门。尽管里香任性又傲娇，但裕一还是渐渐地喜欢上了这个天真单纯的少女，然而，在灰暗的过去和迷惘的未来之中，裕一能够坚持自己的选择呢？
