旅美十年的女作家舒文突然接到其母欧阳琼教授的电话急召回国，在抵达机场意外遇见十八年前的恋人——刘思雨旅英回国，刘亦接到舒母紧急电话，命两人到达当日即赴舒宅与舒母会面。但究竟为何事，两个均不知就里。正心存疑惑，而又旧情在心头隐隐浮现时，舒文的丈夫——周玉轩不期而至，利用舒文思女之情将她带走，舒文见久别女儿晓倩，当日自己竟无法脱身，在自己家中逗留一夜。不料凌晨噩耗传来，舒母当夜心脏病猝发身亡...
