CBS早前宣布开发《生活大爆炸》衍生前传剧，現CBS确定命名为《少年谢尔顿 Young Sheldon》，顾名思义就是以Sheldon Cooper 为主角。但该剧不是Sheldon成年版，而是以他9岁时为背景，剧集也会以《马尔柯姆的一家 Malcolm in the Middle》的单镜头家庭喜剧方式制作，讲述Sheldon当年在德州东部的家庭及学校生活。Chuck Lorre与Bill Prady为主创兼执行制片﹑Steve Molaro﹑Todd Spiewak与在《生活大爆炸》饰演Sheldon的Jim Parsons为制作人兼执行制片。在过往剧情中，可得知Sheldon的家人包括哥哥George﹑异卵双胞胎姐妹Missy﹑有宗教信仰的妈妈Mary Cooper，以及酗酒的爸爸George Cooper。另外Sheldon还有外婆（Meemaw）及外公（Pop Pop），外公在Sheldon 5岁时去世。该剧由Jon Favreau执导， Iain Armitage将饰演年轻版的Sheldon Cooper﹑ Zoe Perry饰演其母亲Mary Cooper﹑Lance Barber饰演Sheldon的父亲﹑Raegan Revord及Montana Jordan饰演Sheldon的兄妹（姐？）﹑Annie Potts饰演外婆。

练束梅饰演的七妹是一家七姐妹中的老么，因为并不是父亲一直期盼的儿子而从小就被冷落，受尽责难，直到她闯进城市之中才如鱼得水般“大展身手”，但情感的背叛和社会的现实让她饱受打击和磨练，最后守得云开见月明，获得了完美的归宿。练束梅对于自己这个角色的理解是一个类似于韩剧中《大长今》的人物，“我一直很喜欢李英爱饰演的‘大长今’，能够接到《属羊女人》的剧本很开心，杨七妹其实就是这样的人物，从小就被别人冷落排挤，长大了又挫折不断情感背叛，但一生虽经历了种种苦难与坎坷，却坚毅的如同一朵小白花般静静地绽放，顽强生存，最终开出了最美丽清香的花！”
