故事以迎来“乒乓球战国时代”的东京为舞台，是一部描写高中生们展开激烈的桌球战斗和友情的体育青春剧。剧中的东京掀起了空前的乒乓球热潮，决定高中生优劣的不是学习，也不是打架，而是乒乓球比赛的胜败，乒乓球段位排在下面的高校要绝对服从排在上位的高校，这部剧描写的就是高校之间如同进入“乒乓球战国时代”一样，进行霸权之争的故事。
